With a little over three months left until Christmas, we want to highlight an initiative that actually relate to the flight – SAS Juleflyet, an aid campaign run by the SAS employees. 

On November 27, lifts the SAS Juleflyet for the 30th year in a row loaded full of volunteers and supplies to donate Christmas cheer to needy in one of our nearest neighbors, Estonia. Juleflyet founded in 1985 by Karsten Midtun who was then an employee of the now defunct Norwegian airline Norving. Juleflyets first bet was to Poland, which then prevailed under communism controlled the Soviet Union. Midtun was touched by what met him during a reconnaissance to Gdansk and it all evolved from a PR coup to a tradition that came with when he started as an officer at SAS. SAS sponsors with an aircraft and other costs such as fuel and deed fees are covered by sponsors. The grants have grown in pace with Juleflyet has become more famous and today one receives such an extent things that one must take into trucks to bring up everything to Estonia. With the aircraft emanating from Oslo is SAS crew, sponsors, donors and volunteers who together help to organize soup kitchens, distribution of food and celebration for the most needy and for many of the recipients, especially the children, this has become a fine tradition that one looking forward.
